Moving Day Tool — Built on the Day of the Move
BoxTracker is a tool to track and organise boxes during a home move. You label each box, note what's inside, mark which room it belongs in, and track whether it's been moved. Simple problem, simple solution.
But the more interesting story is how and why it was built.
I was moving the same day and needed something functional immediately, not eventually. I had no laptop available. The only tool I had was my phone and access to AI-native build tools (Emergent Labs).
Time was the only constraint that mattered. I was literally mid-move. The app needed to work before the movers arrived, or it wasn't useful at all. This forced every product decision toward the simplest possible thing that solved the actual problem.
The build itself stress-tested something I'd been curious about: whether AI-native tools had matured to the point where a PM who can think clearly about product problems could ship something real, without writing code, without a computer, in under an hour.
The answer was yes — with caveats. The speed was real. The quality ceiling was lower than a proper build. But for a single-use tool built under time pressure, it was exactly right.
